Our Story

Connection is the foundation of healthy, resilient communities — but it rarely exists by accident.

Across Transylvania County and Western North Carolina, people and organizations are doing meaningful work every day. What’s often missing isn’t care or effort — it’s a deeper sense of belongingthat helps community voice surface, resources move clearly, and collaboration last over time.

SparkPoint exists to strengthen that connective tissue — creating space to listen, learn together, and lead collaborative action.

Organization History

Sustainable Health for All began as a community-led effort in 2019 and received 501(c)(3) status in early 2020.

Through that nonprofit, Blue Zones Project Brevard was implemented across the City of Brevard from 2020 through 2023, bringing residents, leaders, and partners together around evidence-based strategies for long-term well-being.

In spring 2023, Brevard was officially certified as a Blue Zones Community, a nationally recognized designation for community well-being.

In spring 2023, Brevard earned Blue Zones Community certification, a nationally recognized designation for community well-being.

That milestone validated years of local collaboration and marked a turning point for what came next.

At that milestone, the organization introduced its next evolution: SparkPoint — the public-facing identity of Sustainable Health for All.

Built on what the Blue Zones work made clear — that social connection is a powerful driver of health — SparkPoint broadened the mission beyond city boundaries, expanding inclusion across Transylvania County and into Western North Carolina.

The work didn’t restart.
It evolved.

The heart was present. What became clear over time was that some community members were still looking for a deeper sense of belonging within it.

Listening sessions across the county confirmed a consistent pattern. Nonprofits, healthcare providers, schools, and neighbors were all working hard, but many residents still felt on the edges of support and decision-making. Collaboration often depended on goodwill rather than dependable, shared coordination.

SparkPoint was built to close that gap. We were shaped by community partners who wanted both durable coordination and a stronger sense of belonging — not just for a project, but for the long haul.

When Hurricane Helene tested Transylvania County in 2024, those relationships mattered. SparkPoint became a coordination point — helping information, volunteers, and resources move more clearly through the community.

Response Capacity Built, Not Improvised

Today, SparkPoint serves as that connective infrastructure, operating through a continuous loop:

We don’t just run programs; we build the capacity for our community to solve problems together. By staying grounded in local needs and adaptable to change, we help ensure that every person has the support they need to thrive.
